1.  this online quiz from homegoods created by deborah needleman, founding editor and cheif of the magazine domino. it’s a really fun quiz to take and it helps you determine what your personal decorating style is based on how you answer the questions.  you can click on the picture below to be taken directly to the quiz.

when i took the stylscope quiz it told me my design style is earthy casual.  i think it describes my style perfectly.

2.  this princess margaret hospital showhome created by house & home magazine.  the home is spectacular, both the architecture and the interior design.  you can even take video tours of the rooms.  here are a few still shots of the home but hurry over to house & home to see the video tours.

3.  this jill rosenwald rug that can be found at multiple online stores…csn rugs, home decorators collection, and student market.  it’s a good replacement for the west elm rug that we all love and can’t find anymore.

4.  this beautiful blog called style me pretty.  i stumbled on it earlier this week and i so wish i had seen this blog when i was planning my wedding a couple years ago.  such beautiful ideas for weddings.

so what are your plans for the weekend?  friday night we’re going to a fireside cookout at one of our friend’s home.  then saturday we’re going to a concert.  whatever you do i hope that you have fun.  see you next week.

outdoor living

if i had a deck big enough to hold more than just our grill it would probably look something like this outdoor living space from mary mcgee’s portfolio.  love all the white furniture and the mix of graphic patterned pillows.

i’m loving all the sunshine we’ve gotten this week.  i’m also glad that we’ll continue to see the sun for about 4 more days.  all that rain we were having was not too fun.  hope the sun is shining where you are.

take a tour, or two, or three

looking at homes on the market in the atlanta area is one of my favorite things to do in my free time.  it’s almost an obsession.  i also love looking at the homes that are way…i mean WAY, out of my price range just for kicks.

here are a few that i came across recently.  listed at $4,995,000, the first house on our tour is only slightly out of my price range.  (YEAH RIGHT!)  this belgium-style 6 bed, 7.5 bath sits in a part of town that we atlantans like to call the mcmansion side of town.  {disclaimer: just so you know this will be the least expensive home featured on the tour today}. 

the dining room in this home is quite stunning and as you know from this post i’m a sucker for horse art.

i’m so glad that whoever designed this house stuck to the art of simplicity.  this all neutral family room is beautiful.

here’s a look at the kitchen.  pay close attention to the little breakfast nook over to the right side of the photo.  it pops up in the next picture.  i didn’t notice it the first time i looked at the kitchen photo so i wanted to make sure that you did.

isn’t this a cozy little nook.

i’m assuming this is the master bedroom since it was the only bedroom shown on the listing.  look how high the cathedral ceilings is.

 

care to take a swim…well take it in your back yard and then relax in the pool house.

our next estate tour is of a home located close to buckhead.  this 7 bed, 8 bath home is listed at $6,300,000.  at first glance you may think that it doesn’t look too much like a mansion. 

if you stay on the tour long enough you will see it turn into one though.

as you walk through the entryway the grandness of this house starts to come to life.

with a gourmet kitchen like this, who needs the rest of the house.

onto our final house on the tour.  i just put this one on the tour for kicks.  i think this is quite possibly the most expensive home listed right now in the atlanta area.  hope you’re sitting down for this one.  this estate is listed for $45,000,000.  yes, that is the correct amount of zeros.  i might as well be taking you on a tour of the biltmore estate.

home crush

i’m really crushing on this home designed by alessandra branca and featured in house beautiful’s october 2009 issue.  some of the elements are a tad bit traditional for my taste but overall i really like it.  after all it’s only a crush.

here’s the enchanting entryway.  love that dramatic fabric on the bench.  not sure who makes it though.

she used a screen to define the space between the entry and the living room.  i like it.  the living room is also my favorite room in the house.  so feminine.

how pretty is this semi-gloss mocha painted ceiling in the dining room!

i like how she has allowed for so much seating just off the kitchen.  everyone loves to hang out in the kitchen so why not give them a comfy place to sit.  wish i could see the kitchen. 

there were two bedrooms featured.  the chartreuse one is the guest bedroom but i think i would make that one my master.  which one would you take?

the upholstered headboard is amazing, and i’m such a sucker for white bedding.  looks like ms. branca is too because both of the bedrooms have all white bedding.
